Dean Leon Anderson is a London-born writer and director whose work has premiered at BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals, including Encounters, St. Louis International Film Festival, London Short Film Festival and Urbanworld among others. In November 2024, Dean’s latest short film, The Mediator, starring Daniel Portman (Game of Thrones) premiered at the Oscar qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival . Recently, he was among the first recipients of the Film & TV Charity’s Reel Impact Fund, supporting mid-senior talent from the Black and Global Majority.

Dean is currently developing his feature-length film Jasper, which received early stage development funding from the BFI NETWORK. The original short screened worldwide and earned multiple award nominations, including Best Narrative at Oscar qualifying Pan African Film Festival. Dean was also selected for the prestigious Momentum program, sponsored by Sony Pictures and Channel 4.

His 2016 short Class 15, funded by Creative Skillset and starring Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Dune, Top Boy), premiered at Encounters and Urbanworld in New York. The film is now distributed by Omeleto.
